10 Characters Who Must Be Introduced In The DC Extended Universe
7. Reverse-Flash
Over the past few weeks, there have been rumblings that The Flash movie won't have a villain in the traditional sense as the story will revolve around Barry Allen's creation of a new timeline (which brings back Michael Keaton as Batman and likely wipes Ben Affleck's version from the DC Extended Universe).
That's hard to believe, and if the Fastest Man Alive is going to clash with anyone in 2022, it should absolutely be the Reverse-Flash. Hailing from far into the future, Eobard Thawne was a massive Flash fanboy who descended into villainy after becoming obsessed with his idol. Meeting him didn't live up to his expectations, though, and he set out on a mission to wipe the Flash from the timeline.
That involved going back and killing Barry's mother, an event which actually led to the creation of the Flash (time-travel sure is complicated). This is essentially the premise of the Flashpoint story arc the movie is based on, and it would be no bad thing for Warner Bros. to actually gender swap the evil speedster as rumours Jessica Chastain could play Thawne are hard not to be excited about.
