10 Characters Who Must Be Introduced In The DC Extended Universe

6. John Stewart

Ryan Reynolds played Hal Jordan in 2011's Green Lantern movie, and while that character is in desperate need of the reboot treatment, he's not the only human to have wielded an emerald ring. Among those other possibilities, though, it's John Stewart who stands out from the crowd.

This fan-favourite character was the Green Lantern in the popular Justice League Unlimited animated series, John is a former architect, social activist, and U.S. Marine sniper, and one of the bravest heroes in the entire DC Universe. Him joining this world would be a big win for diversity, of course, but there's much more to him than just being a Black superhero, and he's arguably more interesting than Hal.

There's a Green Lantern Corps movie in the works, and a Green Lantern TV series coming to HBO Max, so there's really no excuse for John Stewart not to receive the spotlight at some point in the next few years. The franchise has been on hold for such a long time, though, the hope is Warner Bros. can finally get its act together and give Hal, John, Kyle Rayner, Sinestro, and more a chance to shine.
