10 Chick Flicks Your Girlfriend Roped You Into That You Ended Up Loving

9. When Harry Met Sally

When Harry Met Sally is one of those rare gems that crosses boundaries. (Not quite like our number 1 spot, but we're getting there.) Written by Nora Ephron and directed by Rob Reiner, the movie captures both side of the story perfectly. Love is a difficult and tricky thing, and made even more tricky when the two people falling in love are friends. That's the premise of the film, that it isn't possible for a man and a woman to stay "just friends". Despite that potentially being possible somewhere in the world, that's a pretty difficult task, and Harry and Sally, despite their better judgement or belief that they can do the impossible, end up falling for each other. Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan are perfect together. And who would ever picture Billy Crystal as a romantic lead? But there's something about his wit, his charm, and his personality that makes him undeniably lovable He's a bit like Woody Allen in Annie Hall, a little awkward, very goofy, and so much his own person that he becomes adorable. And of course Meg Ryan is Meg Ryan at the top of her game. Gorgeous, funny, smart, and that scene with her and Billy in the diner? Yeah. What both of these actors do, which is aided by Ephron's incredible writing and Reiner's amazing direction, is create a love story that applies to all of us. It's a real story. At some time or another is has or will happen to us, a friend, a family member, it's common, every day stuff. What makes elevates it to the next level though, is this creative team. These four are dynamite together.
