10 Child Stars That Actually Made It Through Okay

4. Drew Barrymore

Break-Out Role: E.T. I always feel a little weird when I watch E.T. and remember that Elliot's little sister was Drew Barrymore's break-out role. She looked to be set down the path that most child stars venture when she wrestled alcoholism and substance abuse in her teens. But in the 90s, she rose from the ashes, starring in a string of more mature films that let everyone know she wasn't a troubled kid any more. She then followed that up with financial success in films such as The Wedding Singer, Ever After and Never Been Kissed, becoming one of the most bankable Hollywood stars.. It's not all about the money either: she won a Golden Globe and has been nominated for prestigious gongs such as the BAFTA and the Emmy. We don't endorse drug abuse here, but it clearly made her comeback all the more triumphant.
