In retirement, Bryan Mills (Liam Neeson) lives his life according to 1 Timothy 5:8:“But if any provide not for his own, and especially not for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.”
Well, that’s according to one viewer, who also claims the plot of this second sequel is derived from Proverbs 17: 11: “An evil man seeketh only rebellion, therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.”
You see, Mills’ ex-wife has been killed by a ne’er do well, and in order to avenge her, Mills must become the “cruel messenger” once again. Fortunately, he’s aided by Sam (Leland Orser) and Casey (Jon Gries), whose relationship with him is best summed up by Proverbs 17: 17: “A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.”
