10 Cinematic Summonings Of The Devil

1. Legend

Tim Curry Legend If Legend had never been made, then The Prophecy would no doubt have taken the top spot - or if Legend had been made without Tim Curry then, once again, the Prophecy would have taken the top spot. Imagining anyone other than Tim Curry playing the Lord of Darkness is nigh on impossible. To be honest .Curry could do the whole thing without the amazing prosthetic make up effects and still darkness would eat up every scene he was in. That said, the make up itself is an astounding example of Rob Bottin's work and it is a testament Curry that he manages to give such a performance, despite the apparent discomfort to his neck and injury to his skin. In other movies when the Devil professes love there is often a sense of insincerity but Curry manages to add something of the awkward schoolboy to Darkness as he attempts to woo Lilly. Curry also seems to go from soft sultry seduction to wild rage in a heartbeat and though there is a certain camp quality this in no way ruins the mood or the tone of either the character or the scene. I'd also probably sleep with this cinematic manifestation of Satan as well, especially if it meant living in such opulent surroundings and wearing such fine clothes (but again, you probably don't need to hear that)... David is grateful not only for the opportunity WhatCulture! has given him but also for the tens of thousands of views that you have given him. Particularly, when he still considers his efforts as somewhat clumsy and amateurish. Like H.P. Lovecraft, David will probably never be happy with his own work. Still this doesn't stop him studying E-Prime, Game Theory, Tantra, Magic, Media Analysis & Criticism along with many other things outside of his top secret day to day job and writing for WhatCulture! All of this in a no doubt conceited effort to improve not only his writing but also himself as a person.
