10 Classic Britsploitation Horror Films

6. Night After Night After Night (1968)

Screen Shot 2013-08-10 at 09.47.36 There is a serial killer on the loose in Swinging Sixties London! Young blond women are the targets of the killer. The detective on the case thinks he has the whole thing figured out - the killer is a playboy bachelor. However, the detective's own wife is killed by the maniac and he has to look deeper into the trenches of respectability to find the culprit. Night After Night After Night is a sleaze-tastic little film that is fondly remembered by about the 20 people who have seen it. The background of hippie era London makes for a chilling contrast with the evil deeds of the killer. The dialogue is quite fun and is peppered with one liners to make you giggle. The subplot with the hysterical judge railing against modern morality would be expanded upon by Pete Walker in House of Whipcord. Undoubtedly, Night After Night After Night shows misogynist violence against women and also dollops of nudity. But it is so steeped in the culture of the late 1960s, it is primarily interesting as an historic relic.

My first film watched was Carrie aged 2 on my dad's knee. Educated at The University of St Andrews and Trinity College Dublin. Fan of Arthouse, Exploitation, Horror, Euro Trash, Giallo, New French Extremism. Weaned at the bosom of a Russ Meyer starlet. The bleaker, artier or sleazier the better!
