10 Classic Films That Should Be Remade

8. A Streetcar Named Desire

The Breakfast Club
Warner Bros.

This ever relevant film - based on the Tennessee Williams play - is a tale of many critical social issues brought to life beautifully by a cast of characters that are deep and raw.

It focusses mainly on the subject of domestic abuse within marriage and discusses the factors that contribute to someone feeling trapped by an abuser but feeling compelled to stay. Also, the character of Blanche is a powerful examination of mental health and how it was treated before our time.

These continually pervasive problems are far better understood in a contemporary setting than at the time of the original film's release. Thanks to this, a remade version of the movie would not only have a powerful place but could be approached with a far more knowledgeable production.
