10 Classic Movies Extended Only By Stupid Villain Decisions

9. Javert Goes Undercover, Despite Being Famous - Les Miserables

He's the Chief of Police, and one of the most famous men in France, but still Javert decides to try and go undercover in Les Miserables, in one of the most ridiculous plans ever hatched by a movie character ever. Despite being old enough to father them, Javert's bumbling idea is to tell a group of protesting students that he's one of them. He'll explain that he's going to spy on government soldiers, and then falsely report back that they're not going to attack. This will catch the students completely off-guard, and the government forces won't have too much of a rebellion on their hands. What could possibly go wrong? Little does he realise, they all know his face; and he should probably have been aware, given that he's not just the main law enforcer of the city, he quite literally makes a song and dance about it. It would have been a reasonable plan if it wasn't sending a celebrity incognito; Javert gets caught pretty much as soon as someone sees his face, and his whole cover is blown. And if he's the best the Parisian police had to offer, what were the rest of them like?
