8. The CIA Waste Money On Disorganised Assassinations - The Bourne Identity
Jason Bourne is a $30 million government weapon who can't remember who he is, and why he led the life he did, and naturally, it's understandable that the CIA would want to track him down and make sure that he's not gone rogue. But surely, there has to be a better way to do it than this. The CIA announce that they're going to launch three attacks on Bourne, shortly after he demonstrates his abilities at the US embassy in Zurich, Switzerland. One of these will be a creepy assassin waiting for Bourne in his flat, one will be a sniper - played by Clive Owen - and one will be a trained killer called Manheim, who incidentally never actually catches up with Bourne. So if the CIA are going to stop a $30 million weapon, how much are these killers worth? Assuming that they're an equal match for Bourne, but Bourne disposes of them, that's $90 million down the drain; why not spend half of that on a planned ambush where you outnumber Bourne in his home? Why not just plant explosives in his apartment, and keep the sniper nearby just in case? It's fair enough to underestimate your enemy, but not when you know what he can do better than he can.
