3. Casablanca
A whopping thirteen percent of people had lied about seeing Casablanca, according to the LOVEFiLM research. Like It's A Wonderful Life, it's easy to see why people might do that. Casablanca is perpetually included in lists of the greatest films of all time and it's one of those movies that you're 'supposed' to have seen at least once. But for a lot of people, especially today, sitting through some melodramatic black-and-white romance is tantamount to water torture. Where are the car chases? Where are the shoot-outs? Where's Batman? For some, it's just easier to say that they've seen it and avoid any unwanted questions. That it's one of the movies people most lie about seeing may have something to do with it having one of the most misquoted lines in film history. A surprising amount of people still misquote the line "Play it, Sam. Play 'As Time Goes By''', which Woody Allen gently mocked in the title of his play/film Play It Again, Sam.
