10 Cloverfield Lane Trailer Breakdown: 15 Clues You Need To See

1. What Does The Title Mean?

The biggest mystery about 10 Cloverfield Lane is how it ties into the Cloverfield world (if at all). And the clue to it all is, most likely, the film's title. Cloverfield opened with text saying it contained "Multiple sightings of case designate 'Cloverfield'". The conventional assumption is that that's a reference to the monster itself, although words from original director Matt Reeves did, at points, suggested it referred to the events of the attack and the government's response. That ambiguity, which still exists eight years after release, is only played up here, with the word used in a totally different context, likely to refer to the street where the bunker/house is based. How the two usages relate isn't clear. My present thinking is that the name of the monster was derived from the location around Cloverfield Lane - some horrific event occurred here relating to research into, or actions of, the monster. Of course, it may just be an in-joke - the name first came from the name of a road exit near J.J. Abrams' office. What do you think 10 Cloverfield Lane is? Share your thoughts down in the comments.
