10 Comedians Who Pulled Out Awesome Acting Performances

3. Woody Allen - Broadway Danny Rose

woodyallen Here we go with more Woody Allen, though this time around, the actor in question is Allen himself. The prolific filmmaker, who often stars in his own films, and who occasionally pops up in other people's movies, was a comic early on in his career, and to this day is considered one of the most influential stand-up comedians of his time. In fact, it was actually the act that helped him to develop the signature neurotic personality we all know and love. This is on full display in, more or less, every Woody role, and although the popular picks here would probably be Annie Hall or Manhattan, I'm going with my favorite Woody Allen film, Broadway Danny Rose. In this one, Woody plays a somewhat pathetic talent manager with a heart of gold. Danny gets into a hilariously dangerous situation because of his biggest client, and he (accompanied by Mia Farrow) spends the movie trying to figure out a way to get out of it. It sounds simple, and it is, but Allen creates an endlessly lovable character, and an equally lovable film. He doesn't act much anymore, but hopefully the man has a few more great performances left in him.
