8. Brie Larson
Though she had already managed to secure an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Room, before eventually landing in the MCU, Brie Larson was largely known for her work in the world of comedy.
Memorable turns in Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, 21 Jumps Street, and TV series United States of Tara, all highlighted the star's excellent timing and wit as a performer. However, the insanely talented dramatic and comedic actor was thrown into an entirely different world when tasked with bringing Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers, to life on the big screen.
In order to get her body into shape to play the strongest avenger we've seen to date, the star was put through an intense nine-month fitness programme, going from a "never particularly active" person to a real-life superhero capable of pushing a 5,000lbs car with her body weight. The exercises Larson used to transform her body included weighted hip thrusts, pull-up drills, Bulgarian split squats and weighted press-ups, with the actor even teaming with another Brie on occasion to keep her body in tip-top condition.
Even after finishing up on the likes of Captain Marvel and Avengers Endgame, Larson continues to work out like a superhero to this day.
