10 Comedy Actors Who Made Great Horror Movie Characters

Darren Aronofsky has never shied away from creating films with shocking subject matter and unsettling imagery and mother! is no different. In fact, his 2017 film may be his most bizarre effort yet, a freakish blend of Biblical allegory and commentary on humanity's degradation of the environment. This most unusual combination split critics and audiences down the middle, with some admiring its ambition and others decrying its unsettling nature.

Naturally, a film with such themes on its mind was bound to be divisive but that does not mean that the film was lacking merit. Aronofsky and recurring DP Matthew Libatique create a visual palette that is both lush and repulsive, and the performances by the cast are all game for the madness unfolding on screen.

One performance that impressed viewers was that of Kristen Wiig as Him (Javier Bardem)'s publicist, herald. She quickly turns Him and mother (Jennifer Lawrence)'s idyllic life upside down and quickly antagonizes mother for her own gain.

Although the role of herald was nothing than a cameo, Wiig commits to the role (and general WTF nature of the film) and shines in that scene which came to define the movie as a cinematic fever dream.
