10 Comedy Actors Who Made Great Horror Movie Characters
5. Kevin James As Dominick - Becky
When most audience members think of Kevin James, they turn to his most well-known roles in King of Queens and most Adam Sandler 'comedies' and his shtick for the most part involves pratfalls and infantile humour.
So, it came as a shock to see James in a decidedly more menacing and despicable role in 2020's Becky. The film itself was no genre classic but the cast helped elevate it to a level beyond basic horror shlock.
The film features a young girl and her father trying to stave off an attack by Neo-Nazi convicts at their lake house. The film is not exactly the most layered story out there, and it mostly thrives on the gore on display, the cathartic nature of seeing Nazis getting brutalized in a variety of ways, and the central performance by Lulu Wilson as the titular character.
James as the gang leader Dominick is not quite as gripping as Wilson's Becky, but still rises to the occasion and gives audiences someone to root against. The role is not deep by any means but it was nice seeing James playing outside his regular wheelhouse.
