10 Comedy Movies Audiences Walked Out Of
7. Pink Flamingos
Vulgar doesn't even begin to describe the work of John Waters. The man has created some ludicrously disgusting movies, with even his more commercial films (like Cry Baby) still featuring the vulgarity you would expect from the mind of a maniac. Still, the crowning glory of his repertoire has to be the shockingly grotesque, deliberate exercise in poor taste, Pink Flamingos. It certainly had audiences feeling queasy.
Pink Flamingos follows a Baltimore criminal named Divine as she strives to be the "filthiest person alive". The film turns into a den of debauchery full of violence, gross-out humour, real-life animal death and any vile thing you can set your mind to. So, it's no surprise that the movie designed to be repulsive had audiences running for the hills.
The introduction of this article discussed how projectile vomiting was a valid reason to leave a cinema, and in the case of Pink Flamingos, that holds true. Some of the most disgusting scenes in the movie had viewers gagging within the aisles. The infamous (and entirely real) scene where Divine eats her dogs *ahem* droppings even caused viewers to run to the bathrooms.
When a movie is this gross, some people literally can't stomach it.
