10 Comedy Movies Audiences Walked Out Of
8. The Lion King
Many Disney and non-Disney fanatics out there would argue against classifying The Lion King as a comedy. The classic animated flick is a powerful, thematic experience often likened to Shakespeare with lions. Still, while it's got serious storytelling down at its core, there's also a focus on comedy and humour, meaning it fits the bill. Of course, no matter what you think, there's one scene that no one can call a laughing matter.
The infamous death of Mufasa (spoiler alert?) is one of the most notoriously traumatic moments in Disney movie history. It's a painful yet oddly beautiful scene which saw the beloved lion pass into eternity and set the protagonist on his journey of self-discovery. But, for many kids in the cinema, it was way too much to handle.
This emotionally riveting scene caused mass outbreaks of crying and hysterics, leading to many children needing to be evacuated from the venue to calm down. Seeing as most adults have a similar reaction when watching this scene, it's hard to judge the little ones for wanting to get out of there.
Of course, this wouldn't be a damning sign for the film, as it's still one of the most beloved and critically praised movies in history.
