10 Comic Actors Who Excelled In Serious Roles

8. Steve Carell

76C3EDA9FD79BB6F5F829DC091B61A Steve Carell is probably one of the funniest men alive today. After he had his coming out in The 40 Year Old Virgin, his acting career really started to take off and he has portrayed a number of different roles since then. He has done kids movies, more comedies, and some very well done serious roles. One of his first serious roles was Dan In Real Life, which although could be boring for some, was a movie I enjoyed very much. His best serious role though was in Little Miss Sunshine: although the movie is part comedy, Carell's role wasn't comedic at all. In the movie he played the uncle who was a gay author living under the family's watch after a suicide attempt. If that isn't as serious as it can get, I'm not sure what is. All in all, he did a tremendous job on the role and was able to establish himself as a jack of all trades in the acting world.
