7. Adam Sandler
Although not all of the movies he makes anymore are very good (at all), Adam Sandler had a run in the 90s when he was one of the funniest men alive. He was one of
Saturday Night Live's top guns, and he had a handful of movies that he had starred in like
Happy Gilmore and
The Waterboy. No matter how stupid the plot was, Sandler found a way to make it funny with his trademark gags and charm. 2007 saw Sandler's first cross over into a serious movie in
Reign Over Me, where he played a man devestated and depressed from his wife and daughter's deaths in the September 11 terrorist attacks. Although Sandler was one of comedy's most obnoxious men, it did seem like he was poised to play a role like this, as he has shown a serious side in some of his comedy movies, like in
Click and
Big Daddy. Those are both movies that are geared towards comedy but show that Sandler could have a serious side if he wanted to, and
Reign Over Me was the first movie where he completely showed that. Sandler is a person I would love to go see do more movies like this because he really is more of an actor than what his previous movies show.
