10 Comic Book Adaptations That Messed Up Iconic Stories
7. Daredevil
Yet another case of the death of a comic book character being told way too soon (and still not the last occurrence of such on this list); what is it with these sadist film makers being so impatient when it comes to killing off the characters we love?!
Whereas The Amazing Spider-Man films at least waited until the sequel to kill off Peter Parker's love interest, 2003's Daredevil killed off his in the very first (and last) installment. But this wasn't your typical, run of the mill, damsel in distress love interest; it was the deadly, Greek, bad ass assassin Elektra.
Daredevil antagonist Bullseye's brutal murder of the heroine was pretty comic book accurate to be fair, but the down side was that unlike in the comic series, we had barely got to know the character before her execution. In fact, she hadn't even got to assassinate anyone yet, unless you include a few brown bags used as target practice.
This is just another example of film-makers rushing to get to the best bits of a graphic novel, instead of taking their time and executing it the right way. Such hastiness may be why the flick was never green lit a sequel, with fans instead having to wait for the superior Netflix show years later.
