10 Comic Book Adaptations That Messed Up Iconic Stories

6. Justice League

Ah, Justice league. It could have been as big as The Avengers, but once again, studio impatience unfortunately intervened. Instead of following the Marvel formula and introducing audiences to each of the team's members with individual movies before climaxing with an epic team up, it churned out Justice League after only a mere couple of characters had been given solo outings.

Then, the Justice League movie decided to adapt Darkseid's invasion of earth story line from the comics, but instead of using the villain himself, opted to go with his far less iconic uncle Steppenwolf. The movie should have held off on the mother box story entirely, slowly building to Darkseid and his army of Parademon's arrival over several films, again, similar to what Marvel did with Thanos. If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

There's no shortage of alternative Justice League tales and villains the film could have chose to depict, from Randall Savage to The Injustice League. Whether Warner Bros. will give Justice League another crack of the whip and choose a more appropriate story to adapt next time remains to be seen, but it could be awkward continuity wise with Ben Affleck stepping down as The Dark Knight. A New Gods movie in the works however suggests that Darkseid could eventually grace the big screen yet.
