10 Comic Book Castings That Were Perfect (But In A Different Role)

5. Emma Stone As Mary Jane Watson Instead Of Gwen Stacey

Emma Stones

On the flip-side of the Spider-Man franchise, we now have Emma Stone playing Gwen Stacy in the reboot with Andrew Garfield.

Stone is fantastic in the role, trading comic remarks with Peter Parker, but doesn't it just feel like she's playing Mary Jane Watson with a blond wig? It's as if the studio wanted a witty Mary Jane Watson to keep the banter going, but they selected Gwen Stacy to be the love interest instead, purely to distance the new Spider-Man films from the original trilogy. Listen up studios! Emma Stone should have been cast as the fiery redhead and Kirsten Dunst should have been cast as the sweet girl next door. It's not rocket science people!
