10 Comic Book Characters That Were Slaughtered By Hollywood

10. Galactus

In the 2007 Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer there was the chance for an incredible villain, yet we were given little more than a cloud which vaguely resembled the planet devouring nemesis of the comics. Although the plot focused on the Silver Surfer, Galactus was the major threat to earth, and having an ominous cloud as the primary threat made the film hardly enthralling. Galactus could be done with spectacular ease; an over-reliance on CGI is not healthy in a film, but for the sake of creating a fear invoking villain like Galactus, this could have made the film a commercial success. The young target audience of the Fantastic Four movies may be to blame for this disgraceful adaptation of one of the largest villains in the Marvel universe; his domineering status as one of the Fantastic Four€™s primary foe should have made him a successful cinematic adversary for the motley crew of the Fantastic Four, but the cloud like entity that audiences received was nothing short of a tremendous disappointment to all who wasted their time in seeing this lacklustre attempt of a superhero film. Galactus is a planet eating elder of the universe; this is not the sort of villain who is likely to be well adapted to screen; the Marvel Cinematic Universe has dealt far better with adapting these sort of characters to the screen; Loki has a sense of charm that enabled him to appeal to audiences, Galactus had no presence in the film. This lack of presence made the villain weak, and as we only saw his smoky outline he was a laughing stock, not a true threat to the planet.
