10 Comic Book Characters That Were Slaughtered By Hollywood

4. Catwoman

The Catwoman film was awful by every way of judging a film; Halle Berry was not entirely to blame for this, as the script was poor and the costume was diabolical. However, for a character who has been included in a plethora of screen adaptations (from Adam West€™s sixties series to Christopher Nolan€™s Dark Knight Rises), this character has inevitably had some incredible adaptations; Tim Burton€™s Catwoman was amazing, Anne Hathaway was distinct but enjoyable as Selina Kyle in The Dark Knight Rises. However, when the name Catwoman is said, the first thought of many is to the disastrous Halle Berry film. These successful adaptations offer some semblance of salvation for a character who had lost any shred of dignity in the monstrosity of the 2004 film; not even the real name of the primary character remained intact. Halle Berry has not come out well in the comic book film genre; this is not always her fault, but in the case of Catwoman there were so many cinematic sins taking place that it was impossible for the film to be a success to the public; even those who knew little of the villainess would be confused by this peculiar film. The film was a sweeping success at the Razzies, but the character will forever be shamed by this one outing; it is hard to see even Michelle Pfeiffer or Anne Hathaway€™s Catwoman portrayals restoring the character to its deserved glory.
