10 Comic Book Movie Performances ONLY Made Possible By Intense Method Acting

Tom Holland is the first screen iteration of Peter Parker who can actually pass for a real high schooler, as evidenced by him being just 20 years old while shooting Spider-Man: Homecoming (Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were 26 and 28 respectively while filming their first Spidey movies).

This was further exemplified during Holland's prep for the part, where he went undercover in a real New York high school to get a feel for the character and the experience of being a teenager in the Big Apple. In his own life, Holland went to a boys-only school in London, so he felt the ruse was necessary in order to understand the dynamic of a co-ed institution.

Being less of a star than either Maguire or Garfield, Holland claims he was able to effortlessly blend into the crowd, and being just a year-or-so older than a high school senior, it's easy to understand why.
