10 Comic-Book Movie Post-Credits Scenes That Weren't Worth Waiting For

1. Howard The Duck (Guardians Of The Galaxy)

Guardians Of The Galaxy was our grand, vibrant introduction to the Marvel Cosmic Universe.

By introducing all-new planets and a literal galaxy to the playing field, Marvel were branching out in a massive way, the Guardians movie acting as a gateway to the enormous catalogue of space-themed characters from the Marvel comic books.

You'd have been forgiven then, if you half-expected the movie - or the post-credits scene - to introduce a new hero or villain that would pop up later in the MCU, or would even feature in their own series of movies.

Sadly, as we now know, that was not the case.

As fans who'd waited for countless minutes sat with bated breath, the scene began and swiftly landed on Howard The Duck, who spouted a quip about a dog licking The Collector, before a cut to black.

Howard The Duck is a Marvel Comics character who got his own (terrible) movie in 1986, and this extra tag was merely a dumb little gag, a silly way to pay homage to an oft-forgotten character, and essentially trolled audiences by taking advantage of their expectations and delivering nothing.

Howard's obscurity did nothing to aid that feeling of disappointment many had toward the scene, and only ensured the joke flew over a great many heads.

Any terribly disappointing post-credits scenes that we missed? Do you agree with our choices? Sound off in the comments below!

He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
