10 Comic Book Movie Scenes That Totally Dominated Their Films
10. Assault On The White House - X2 (2003)
After the first X-Men both reinvigorated the comic book movie and grossed almost $300m at the box office despite losing six months of production time, Bryan Singer was rewarded with a bigger budget for the sequel. With the origin story now out of the way, the director was free to up the ante. But despite being one of the best comic book movies ever made, the best scene in X-Men 2 comes right at the very start with Nightcrawler's stunning attack on the White House. Launching headfirst into the action, the scene instantly conveys that this movie will be bigger, badder and better. A seamless mixture of practical and CGI effects, Singer displays confidence that was sometimes lacking from the first movie's direction with a bravura set-piece that both introduces a new character to the audience as well as reminding them of how well mutant powers lend themselves to big screen action sequences. Yes, the rest of the movie is very good but it doesn't get any better than the opening scene.
I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
