10 Comic Book Movies Critics & Audiences Couldn't Agree On

4. Eternals

It’s possible that Eternals will go down as one of the biggest missed opportunities in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This should have been a genre-shattering shift for the franchise, but instead it kind of just fizzled out with little to no fanfare.

A huge ensemble cast, an academy award-winning director, and some of the most stunning cinematography in the entire franchise should have made for an incredible addition to the MCU, but most of this was lost on the critics.

The run time was an utter slog, and it was described by many as being one of the most uneven movies in Marvel’s catalogue. There were certainly flashes of brilliance, but they were few and far between and almost always outweighed by the bad.

Though not the worst score on this list, the 47% still broke new ground for Marvel Studios, as the MCU had never experienced a rotten score before. Though no one could argue that the film wasn’t too damn long, audiences found more joy in those flashes of brilliance than the critics, and there can be no doubt that the comedy value of Kingo and Karun helped on its way to a much healthier 77%.
