10 Comic Book Movies Everyone Tried To Copy

9. Captain America: Civil War

Ever since people got their hands on their superhero figures, they have always wanted to know which superhero would best the others in combat. While the notion of heroes acting against each other has had several adaptations in print and on the small screen, it didn't really gel on film until Captain America Civil War was unleashed.

There are probably a lot of Marvel fans who just like this movie for Spider-Man's appearance, but the idea of having the hearts of the Avengers (Iron Man/Captain America) being torn apart from within was both captivating and heart-wrenching at the same time. The entire concept felt like a new spin on the MCU, but a lot of other studios ended up seeing dollar signs.

Probably the most notable rip off of the Civil War formula is Batman vs. Superman, whose slapdash construction almost felt like they were trying to rush their movie out before Marvel could, with the story being an afterthought. Though the DCEU's first mammoth production may have had its fans, it's tough to watch a completely new Batman fight Superman when we already have another super-soldier and billionaire warrior with a lot of backstory in Marvel's hands. Producers may still want to follow the Civil War model, but given the emotional potency of the original, this story structure is going to be pretty hard to match.
