10 Comic Book Movies Everyone Tried To Copy

8. The Incredibles

The Incredibles is a great example of Pixar working at its absolute best. Though not a comic book to begin with, this pastiche of the superheroes of old ended up spawning a comic book of its own and another stellar sequel over a decade later. This might be the more kid friendly superhero film, but it ended up birthing new tropes we didn't even know we wanted.

The key element of this story revolves around superheroes becoming part of a government agency that monitors the amount of damage they do every time they save the world. That's already pretty gritty for kids to take in, but we ended up seeing it a few more times around when both Batman vs. Superman and Civil War addressed superheroes taking accountability for their actions.

Along with the simple superhero arc, there's a lot more depth to be found with the villain Syndrome, who was a genius that was completely ignored by Mr. Incredible. That great writing device ended up rubbing off on other Disney properties, with Iron Man 3 revolving around Killian wanting to prove himself as Tony Stark's adversary. The Incredibles might not be everyone's first pick for the greatest superhero movie, but its impact on modern comic book media is immeasurable.
