10 Comic Book Movies For People Who Don't Like Comic Book Movies

6. The Dark Knight Rises

Logan movie
Warner Bros.

Nolan's trilogy of Batman films marked a new guard in the world of superhero movies, with a far more gritty approach than before. And although The Dark Knight Rises tends to feel like a comedown from the first few offerings, it may just be the one that can get people to understand the appeal of Batman.

Instead of having the normal amount of fight scenes, a lot of this film is more about the brute force that comes with going up against corruption.

As Nolan once said, his vision for this film was to make a war movie out of Gotham City, with the entire movie feeling like it's just on the brink of destruction at every turn.

Compared to the usual fisticuffs we see the World's Greatest Detective in, this is also a change of pace by putting him against someone like Bane who has the capacity to physically break him.

This isn't so much a movie about defeating bad guys, but rather working your body and soul until you have the ability to become more than just a man. Because at the end of the day, Batman is just a regular guy willing to do extraordinary things if it means protecting his city.
