10 Comic Book Movies Hollywood Didn't Have The Balls To Make
6. X-Men: Brood Saga
The X-Men's battles with the Brood have formed the basis of a number of storylines, the most famous of which is the 1982 original. In that comic, the X-Men find themselves going up against a race of horrifying alien creatures called the Brood, whose plan involves infecting people (most notably Wolverine) in order to replicate themselves. It's full-on comic book horror, a genre little explored on film.
In short, this hypothetical flick would have essentially played out like one massive Marvel/Alien hodgepodge - a hybrid it's hard to imagine being anything other than awesome, though you can argue there wouldn't be much point tackling this story after the events of Logan.
Granted, the alien/horror element would be a lot different to anything in the established X-Men movie canon thus far. Which is perhaps what has scared Hollywood away from using this story, although both Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy proved you can bring aliens into an existing world and make it work - not to mention that fighting alien foes has been associated with the X-Men team.
Still, the studio appear to have opted for the safer "Dark Phoenix Saga" next, suggesting that at this stage 20th Century Fox aren't quite as ballsy as Marvel.
