10 Comic Book Movies Hollywood Didn't Have The Balls To Make
7. Spider-Man: Kraven's Last Hunt
Often regarded by Spider-Man fans as one of the greatest book stories in the entire canon, "Kraven's Last Hunt" would without a doubt make a bizarre abut beautifully entertaining film. But considering it in greater detail, it's not at all surprising to see why Hollywood has consistently shunned it over the years, despite churning out a huge number of films to date.
The story opens with Kraven seemingly killing Spider-Man, only to bury him and then dress up in the superhero's costume and assuming his identity and fighting villain Vermin across New York. Inevitably, Spider-Man isn't really dead, of course, and when he wakes up he confronts Kraven. Kraven refuses to fight, but releases Vermin, who successfully defeats the web-crawler. Kraven then saves Spider-Man and retires, hanging up his villain hat. Now at peace with himself, he promptly commits suicide.
As you might have gathered, this story works incredibly well on paper but its movie credentials are somewhat less assured - particularly given Sony and Disney's agenda to sell Spidey toys and merch, which is likely the reason Hollywood has steered clear.
