10 Comic Book Movies That Could Be The Next Avengers: Infinity War

9. Secret Invasion

Secret Invasion Avengers
Marvel Comics

Of all the events in Marvel's catalogue, Secret Invasion has been the one most often touted for a big-screen adaptation. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing is up to each individual, but it's important to note that, while the premise for the actual comic was strong (in an Invasion of the Body Snatchers-style way), Secret Invasion was somewhat anticlimactic. The Skrulls' deception also proved to be obnoxious for readers disinterested in the event, as it ended up encroaching on, well, pretty much everything through to the end of its publishing run.

That doesn't mean it's impossible to convey on the big-screen however, and with the Skrulls set to debut in 2019's Captain Marvel, the chances of the event actually heading to the MCU aren't all that low. If this is the route Marvel Studios decide to take, doing so brings with it its own unique challenges, namely, are audiences really willing to accept that the heroes they've come to know for years have been Skrulls all along?

It'd be wise to wager otherwise, but there are levels to make the Skrulls' deception feel genuine and, more importantly, earned. It's all about timing, and if they can find a way of adapting the story without stepping on the toes of the MCU's older features, there's a chance Secret Invasion could make for a truly enjoyable adventure.
