3. Man Of Steel (2013)
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 56% Even the senior editor of Rotten Tomatoes expressed his shock over Man Of Steel's 56% rating. "I just cannot fathom it," said Gray Drake. "It was a good movie, you guys." For all its flaws and that somewhat questionable narrative structure, Man Of Steel - the first entry in the soon-to-be-realised DC Extended Universe - doesn't deserve its 56% Rotten Tomatoes score. Yes, director Zack Snyder got a lot of things wrong, but he got a lot of things right, too: if a score of 60% signals a film that is - at the very least - worth watching, then Man Of Steel more than qualifies for a place on this list. Whilst Snyder was criticised for switching up the established mythology, it was in those moments - when the film broke convention - that it was at its most interesting: controversy arose when Snyder had Superman kill the villain by breaking his neck, for example, but what better way to create a new, modernised version of the character than to have the world's most po-faced hero going against his own beliefs right at the start of his career? There are other things to appreciate, too: a fantastic opening sequence on Krypton, action scenes - Michael Bay-esque as they were in places - that are genuinely cool, Hans Zimmer's phenomenal score, and a wonderful turn by Henry Cavill as Clark Kent - all this came together to make for an entertaining slice of epic escapism. 56% seems harsh!
