10 Comic Book Movies That Got MULTIPLE Characters Wrong

3. The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Batman & Robin Villains
Sony Pictures

Oh we're not done dissecting Spiderman movies, there's a reason they keep getting re-worked and rebooted. The first Amazing Spider-Man was a perfectly ok Spidey movie, though it was released far too soon with the Rami-verse still on people's minds. It's been generally accepted that Toby Maguire was a wonderful Peter Parker and an okay Spiderman with Andrew Garfield being the opposite.

The villains in 2014's Amazing Spider-Man 2 are some of the worst depictions we've seen. Main antagonist Electro looks more like Dr. Manhattan from Watchmen than his comic book counterpart. Admittedly, the green and yellow costume with giant face lighting is ridiculous, so it's understandable that the producers tried a different look. The whole gaining powers from electric eels thing is super weird too. Jamie Foxx is a great actor, but his character motivations were all off.

Rhino is absolutely bonkers, doesn't get enough screen time to actually develop, and the mech-suit is all wrong. Paul Giamatti, is completely wasted in the part, with no nuance...just shout in Russian!

They decided to just skip over one of Spiderman's best villains in Norman Osborn, jumping straight to his son as Green Goblin II. Now Dane DeHaan is playing Harry with a weird disease then a mutation, it's all awful. The only saving grace of AS2 is the amazing Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. Sony, please keep working with Disney/Marvel.
