1. Mister Sinister
The name Mister Sinister and his childish appearance are specifically designed to scare children. In his original conception, he was going to be the secret master of the orphanage of Scott Summers aka Cyclops. While Mister Sinister was never revealed to be the master of the orphanage, he retained his name and appearance, and his obsession with Cyclops. Mister Sinister began as Nathaniel Essex, a 19th century scientist obsessed with mutation and its role in human evolution. His son died at the age of four due to birth defects, pushing him further into his work. He hired a group of thugs named The Marauders to kidnap people off the streets to perform experiments on. He even dug up the body of his own son for experimentation. These experiments resulted in him being expelled from The Royal Society, and his wife despising him. It was then that he met the immortal mutant Apocalypse who presented him with an opportunity to continue his experiments indefinitely by transforming him into the immortal Mister Sinister. Sinister was the name given to him by his wife in her dying words. Sinister became obsessed with the Summers genetic line, seeing in it the potential for the most powerful beings. In particular, the progeny of Cyclops and Jean Grey would create a mutant of unparalleled power. Sinister was in part responsible for the creation of the time traveller Cable and Nate Grey based on the DNA of Cyclops and Jean. Sinister performed many other genetic experiments in his unnaturally long lifetime, but one of his more atrocious acts was ordering the massacre of the Morlocks. The Morlocks are an underground community of experimented on mutants that consider themselves too hideous to be part of society. Sinister ordered their massacre by his modern day Marauders as he saw them as failed experiments tainting his work. Mister Sinister has appeared in the 90s X-Men animated series and Wolverine and the X-Men animated series. One of the later episodes of the 90s series included a version of Sinisters fiendish origin. Likelihood of appearing:
Along with Apocalypse, Mister Sinister is one of the most significant X-Men villains yet to appear in film. It is unlikely that Sinister will appear in the next X-Men film, Days of Future Past, as he is not part of that story, but it is very likely that he will appear at some stage. Many people have been disappointed with the treatment of Cyclops in the X-Men film series. Using Mister Sinister in film would be the perfect opportunity to explore the significance of Cyclops to the X-Men universe. What do you think? What comic book villains do you want to see in film that are yet to appear?
