10 Comic Con Announcements The Fanboys Would Love

7. Sinister Six Casting Announcement

Sinister Six 2 It was announced on the first day of Comic-Con that the long-gestating Sinister Six movie will be releasing in November 2016, long before The Amazing Spider-Man 3 will see the light of day, which due to the previous film's disappointing critical and commercial showing has been pushed all the way back to 2018. With writer-director Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods) attached, Sony will clearly be throwing all of their creative energy into bringing the Six to life, even if we remain unsure about which villains from the original line-up of Doctor Octopus, Electro, Kraven the Hunter, Mysterio, Sandman and Vulture will actually appear in the movie. Given that without Spider-Man this movie will need all the help it can get, revealing more information at Comic-Con is pretty much the best idea imaginable. Though it's unlikely that casting is complete for whoever ultimately appears in the movie (aside from Paul Giamatti's Rhino and Dane DeHaan's Green Goblin, presumably), a Comic-Con photo-op with whoever has been signed so far would certainly give the Spidey universe a PR upswing that it's sorely in need of right now. With well over 2 years until its release, though, it's best to file this one under "pipe dream" for now.
