10 Comic Con Announcements The Fanboys Would Love

4. Benedict Cumberbatch Is Doctor Strange

Benedict Cumberbatch Doctor Strange Marvel Phase 3 is going to be a test of Marvel's commercial viability, as they begin fielding out a number of quirkier, lesser-known comic book properties, such as Ant-Man and Doctor Strange. Doctor Strange is due for release July 8th, 2016, and rumours suggest that the casting of the titular protagonist is between Tom Hardy, Joaquin Phoenix and Benedict Cumberbatch. Any of these actors would be a great choice for the part, though with the Internet having practically turned Cumberbatch into a de facto meme, he'd likely be the most popular choice. During the Comic-Con panel for Penguins of Madagascar, Cumberbatch was asked which comic book character he'd most like to play, and he answered "Nurse Normal", a not-so-subtle reference to Doctor Strange. Furthermore, Marvel godfather Kevin Feige stated last month that casting would be announced "soon", so why not just make every geek's day and drop the bombshell at Comic-Con?
