1. The Nice Guy Gets the Girl
This one is a bummer. Growing up, we, as men, were conditioned to believe that being the nice guy would get us the girl, that it would make us a Prince Charming of sorts. When we grew up, reality was a painful slap to the face. Girls love the nice guy...as a friend. Girls actually go for the huge douchebag-type, then they get their heart broken, and come crying to you about it because by being the nice guy, you've put yourself in the friend zone. The movies show nice guys getting out of the friend zone by having them finally confess their love for their best friend who only loves them as a brother, but it all works out in the end. She realizes her true feelings for the nice guy, leaves the douchebag, and runs away with said nice guy. Not in real life, though. In real life, when you finally muster up the courage to tell your best friend, who you've been in love with since high school, how you really feel, she'll just say how cute it is that you feel that way and then proceed to pretend that you never said it in the first place. It's a truly heartbreaking reality; one that wouldn't be nearly as bad if Hollywood made a movie that ends with the main character peacefully accepting his role as the girl's best friend and not her Prince Charming, and then moves on with his life.
