3. Someone's Last Words Will Always Be Significant
Now I haven't spent a lot of time by people's deathbeds so I can't claim to be an expert on last words (knock on wood). But do you know what most people say when they die? Nothing. Nada. Zip. And actually, depending on how they died, they might end up crapping their pants as they depart this earth. Crazy, right? For some reason though, movies make a big deal about what someone says in their dying breaths. I've always wondered that had the person who was dying been quiet instead of using the last of their energy to spout off an entire monologue, maybe it's possible that they could have ended up living, but I guess it's during your last breaths that you feel the need to spill every family secret you have, despite the fact it's all probably written down somewhere. Another problem is that when characters are saying their last words, they're generally very quiet, which tends to make them harder to hear. Despite that, what the character says is always super important. When I saw Batman Begins for the first time, I wasn't able to hear what Thomas Wayne said in his last moments since he was so quiet, which kind of pissed me off. I mean come on! If you're going to have him say his last words quieter than a freaking mouse, at least have someone repeat them at some point in time during the movie. Jeez.
