10 Common Mistakes Comic Book Movies Make

8. Abandoning The Source Material

wanted fixed Adapting anything for the screen undoubtedly calls for some change. Some things need to be altered or cut altogether, but certainly what you have left after the alterations needs to be comparable to what you were supposed to be adapting to begin with. So how is it that Wanted, a comic book series about super-villains, drops the entire super-villain fraternity concept, as well as a couple of other key characters for good measure, to become a James McAvoy and Angelina Jolie action romp? I can imagine that some things just need to be changed. Wanted has a character made entirely of poo in it, which is not exactly mass appeal right there but how many changes can you make before you might as well release it under a different name? Constantine is another offender of this as, completely overlooking the altered storylines and made up abilities that John Constantine never had, Keanu Reeves was cast to play a Liverpudlian who looks like Sting. Sorry to bring that up again, but it's just so stupid.
