10 Common Movie Types That Nobody Actually Wants To See

9. Commercials Disguised As Movies

theinternship03.jpg I'm not entirely sure what's happened to the movie industry, because apparently we're just allowing movies to exist as blatantly obvious marketing now. What the heck is going on with The Internship? I mean, sure, product placement has been part of the cinema scene for a long time now, and most of the time we can get past that because it's not too distracting, but actually making an entire movie with a plot synopsis that reads "two guys get jobs at Google"? What? Aside from being generally awful in almost every regard despite its Google setting, why is this suddenly okay? Are Google so big and so popular that they can get away with it? And what point have both Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn reached so that they agreed to star in a movie that seems like it would have been far more at home back in 2005, when the internet was still "new" and confusing to some people. Let's hope The Internship is the last movie of this type - aw, what am I kidding? In five years, all movies will look like this.
