6. Kill Bill... Failed
Quentin Tarantino is a very clever filmmaker. His films are well put together and his attention to detail is astounding. Whether you like his films or not is irrelevant, I bet you can't deny that he is talented at constructing clever and intricate stories. Every detail he includes -aside from the smallest of things- are entirely deliberate. Watch this video and see if you notice anything out of the ordinary. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhTAe-BjuXA Those would be the credits for Kill Bill. All the main actors who died within the movies have their name struck out, signifying their death. You may have noticed that the name Daryl Hannah is given a question mark. This is because she (only?) has her eye plucked out and her fate is left undetermined, we never witness her death. The one name that you would expect to be crossed out is the big man himself Bill, played by David Carradine. His name is the second we see right after Uma Thurmans herself. But for some reason his name does not get struck out. Now why is that? He is not only the man that the Bride (Or Beatrix Kiddo, whatever you want to call her) was primarily after, but we even see him die... Don't we? Well we see him get poked a lot in the chest and then dramatically fall over. Briefly think back to how the various other characters died. The first (Chronologically) to die at the hands of the Bride was O-Ren Ishii. Next was Vernita Green, but something else also happened here. Her daughter witnessed the Bride killing her. I put to you that after this incident, the Bride kills no one else. The next to die is Budd, who died via snake bites. She may have planned to kill him, but she didn't even plant the snake. Then comes Daryl Hannah as Elle Driver who as mentioned before does not explicitly die. In fact the Bride leaves her very clearly alive screaming in pain. Then comes Bill. Prior to his 'death' scene the Bride discovers that the child she thought dead had been alive the whole time. It was in her name that the Bride was basing her revenge upon. Her being alive should nullify that vengeance. Yeah, she should still be pretty pissed but nowhere near the extent of a man she loved killing their unborn baby. Yet at face value she still seems to kill him. Or he is playing along? We saw the same thing happen a few minutes earlier when the Bride plays with her daughter. Could Bill not be doing the same thing? We are never shown that she learns the five point palm technique, and it is explicitly said that Pei Mei taught it to no-one. We can assume they both knew this and the two clearly have a skewed sense of humour, I would not put it past them to do this kind of thing. But once more this is a theory that can be easily questioned. What about the whole coughing blood thing? That is pretty strong indication that old Bill wasn't feeling too hot.
