7. Parallel Tarantino-verse
Speaking of Tarantino. Whereas the previous entry affects just one film, this theory brings all of his films together. In fact this is the one theory on the whole list that I almost 100% believe is meant to have been intended. We all (should) know that there are some small connections between his films, such as Vic and Vincent Vega being brothers in Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction respectively. But what you may have not realised, is that there is an even broader connection that is held together by his most recent film Inglourious Basterds. In that film Hitler dies not by suicide in a bunker, but at the hands of a brutal team of Jewish American soldiers in a move theatre. This means that in this film universe people grew up learning about this event. This explains why all the Tarantino universe characters are so knowledgeable of pop culture. One of their greatest achievements was ending the war inside a film theatre, therefore films in general are given more cultural weight within the universe. But even further than this there in fact two distinct universes in his work. One is the 'normal' universe and the other is the film universe. This film universe is composed of films that characters in the normal universe would themselves view. This contains films such as Kill Bill and From Dusk 'till Dawn, which even by Tarantinos standards are excessively violent. These violent films are common place in this universe, and in fact Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction has been suggested as playing the Bride from Kill Bill within this universe. Kind of explaining how the two can look the same. The universe grows even more when you realise that Donny 'The Bear Jew' Donowitz is the father of Lee Donowitz, the film producer in True Romance. This larger connection provides many opportunities for Tarantino and just makes his films seem that much greater. Now we just have to wait and see where Django Unchained will fit in. My guess is the film universe, but you never know.
