1. Christie - American Psycho

Based on the chilling novel by Bret Easton Ellis, American Psycho stars a young-ish Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman, a chap with quite a few issues to say the least. For many people, it was this movie that really introduced them to the sheer acting delights of Bale. As an actor known today for his diverse back catalogue of characters, Patrick Bateman may very well be his best. He was surely his darkest of the bunch!

Throughout the movie Bateman offs his victims in a variety of different ways, most of the time marinating them with some hilarious rants about his favourite music. Pretty sure most viewers won’t be able to hear “Hip to be Square” ever again without imagining a certain axe related scene! Oh, he also uses a nail gun on one of his unsuspecting victims, I nearly forgot about that one. But it was Bateman’s inventive use of a chainsaw that may have been his most memorable tool-based kill here.

As one of his prepaid lady friends attempts to make a swift exit from his apartment, Bateman starts up a chainsaw and chases after her wearing just his running shoes, nothing else. After a scuffle, she manages to get out of the apartment and makes her way to the stairs. Patrick pursues, still covered in the blood of his other prepaid lady friend. As the soon to be victim makes her way down the stairwell, Bateman stops at the top, tracking her with the chainsaw and then dropping it. It’s a direct hit, and Christian Bale’s maniacal reaction can’t ever be unseen.
