10 Craziest Chainsaw Kills In Movies
10. Franklin - The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
I guess this is as good a place to start as any. Believe it or not, Tobe Hooper originally wanted this to release with a PG rating. I know, crazy right?! The original Texas Chain Saw Massacre is considered a horror classic, and for good reason. It’s atmospheric, disturbing, psychological and absolutely horrifying. But, for a movie with the title “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” there’s actually only one chainsaw kill!
This movie has a majority of its murder and gore happen out of shot or behind a closed door, which I’ve always found works way more effectively. Our imaginations are so much scarier than what can be shown on the screen! The goriest, and it’s not even that gory, scene here takes place in the woods. Sally and her wheelchair-bound brother Franklin are looking for their friends in the aforementioned woods when out of nowhere the infamous Leatherface leaps out and takes his chainsaw to Franklin. All Sally can do is watch on as her brother is sliced and diced.
After a decent amount of screaming Sally eventually creates some distance between herself and Leatherface and stumbles upon a nice big farmhouse with the lights on. What could possibly go wrong?
