10 Crazy Cartoon Voice Casting Choices That Actually Worked

9. Danny Devito - The Lorax

Thelorax As children, we watched Danny Devito terrorize his young daughter in Matilda. As adults, we were treated to Frank Reynolds Little Beauties, a deeply disturbing children€™s beauty pageant, on It€™s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. These experiences have done nothing if not convince us that Danny Devito should be kept as far away from children and children€™s entertainment as humanly possible. But when they were looking for someone to play The Lorax, it€™s kind of hard to argue with the resemblance between the two. But at first, we weren€™t convinced. The Lorax is a wise old thing with a thin, reedy voice, teaching us all to be crunchy hippies and respect the environment and stuff. Danny Devito may have been the right size and temperament, but could he pull that off? Well, it depends. Are you making a faithful adaptation of the book, or are you taking the source material and giving it more of a comedic spin? The finished version is more of the latter, and Danny Devito fits in perfectly there, in all of his tiny, grumpy glory.
