The film is interspersed with ghostly jump scares where Samara appears suddenly, face hidden by her wet, black hair. Finding out that she sent her parents and their horses mad is frightening as there is no explanation for her powers or where she came from.

Your short reprieve where you think Rachel has finally stopped her is cut short by young Aidan’s chilling revelation that she has set her free. Her crawl out of the television to kill Noah is an amazing scene as it is literally breaking the fourth wall, so you feel like you are not even safe just watching her on the screen.
